National Hygiene Month is a great time to start brushing twice a day and flossing once a day if you aren’t already!

Dental hygiene is very important in keeping your mouth and body healthy.  Along with brushing and flossing, chewing sugar-free gum with xylitol for 20 minutes after eating can help remineralize damaged enamel along with increasing saliva flow.  Increase of saliva flow helps balance the pH of your mouth which helps to fight bacteria that cause cavities as well as keep acid erosion from occurring.  Some gums that are sugar-free and contain xylitol are Orbit and Trident gum.
