Summer is now here, so here are some tips in case your child plays a little too rough and knocks out their newly grown-in tooth!

1. Handle the tooth by the top, not by the root (the pointed end). The root contains cells vital to reattachment to the bone.
2. Rinse off the tooth using  water to remove dirt. DO NOT SCRUB IT! This could lead to more damage.
3. See a doctor within 1 hour of the accident to ensure the best chances of reattachment. In the meantime, place the tooth either in your child’s mouth between the cheek and gum or immerse it in milk. It is vital the tooth stay moist to keep the cells and tissues alive.
