A growing number of dentists are now providing botulinum toxin, otherwise known as Botox treatment for their patients.

It has been estimated that up to 16% of North American dentists now use Botox.  Botox products are excellent products used for a variety of dental, oral and maxillofacial treatment.

Botox works by inhibiting and reducing the intensity of the contraction of the muscle or can eliminate the contraction altogether, depending on the dosage used. This can last usually anywhere up to three months. Gradually the muscle returns to its full function with no side effects whatsoever.

Botox can be used for a number of dental therapeutic procedures that can relieve pain and can retrain muscles.   It is used in the dental field to enhance dental treatment plans, as well as help some serious disorders that have been challenging dentists for many years.  Some common uses of botox in our office include TMJ disorder, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, and also used to decrease a gummy smile line.
